State of the Golf Course

The putting surfaces at Hawk's Nest Golf Club were rebuilt to meet USGA recommendations this summer. During the planning stages of the project the Greens Committee, with the support of the entire Membership elected that the putting surface reconstruction techniques and materials utilized would meet today's technological advances. A major component that was incorporated during the process was the installation of a Sub Air system. This system provides the ability to remove excess moisture or insert additional oxygen throughout the soil profile allowing for increased control of the soil environment.

Along with the reconstruction of the greens all green side bunkers were also rebuilt. The bunkers were rebuilt with additional drainage installed. A bunker fabric was installed to provide a good base for the freshly added bunker sand. The newly installed bunker sand is the same sand used at many other successful golf courses throughout the state of Florida.

The project of rebuilding the putting surfaces and the rebuilding of the greenside bunkers was a complete success. This project, along with the re-grassing of the entire golf course in the summer of 2006, has vastly improved an already beautiful layout for the members' enjoyment for many years to come.
